My first post will be to describe what my blog is about and why I chose this topic.
I am a Senior majoring in Political Communication. This major involves looking at past and present rhetoric in order to define and analyze theories of persuasion, mass media effects, and politics at the local, state and federal level, as well as looking at nonverbal communication, and different techniques and models. Within my major I research and learn about everything from political campaigns, to social movements, to grassroots, individual-centered practices. I am also receiving a minor in Technology, Literacy, and Culture, known as TLC. TLC looks at culture, new and old communication practices, and how the two effect each other.
I chose to look at politicians' blogs and blogs on politicians because it marries my two fields of study. With new communication technologies popping up everywhere, politicians need to embrace the changes our society is experiencing in order to campaign effectively.
